Your belongings are professionally loaded into a sealed timber storage container (typically 250 cubic feet — about the contents of a medium bedroom) at your home, then transported to a secure warehouse. The container is sealed on collection and only opened when it comes back out. You never handle boxes twice, and your belongings travel and are stored in the same container.

Best for: house moves with a gap between completion dates, long-term storage, families in transition, anyone who wants a single fixed price with no double handling.

How self-storage works

You rent an individual room (typically 25–200 sq ft) in a self-storage facility. You transport your items in yourself, unlock the unit, and access whenever the site is open. Ideal if you need weekly access — for a business storing stock, or a hobbyist storing equipment.

Best for: frequent access, business use, small quantities of items, short-term flexibility.

Cost comparison

For house-move storage, container storage is almost always cheaper. You pay per container (not per square foot of aisle and corridor), and there's no need to hire a van, take time off work to move items in, or handle everything twice.
