About Hercules Movers
Who are Hercules Movers?
Hercules Movers & Storers is a family-run Cambridge removals and storage company founded in 2016, based at Unit J, Trinity Hall Farm Industrial Estate, Cambridge CB4 1TG. We are independently owned (not a franchise) and every job is completed by our own trained in-house crews.
Where are you based?
Our head office and storage depot are in North Cambridge (CB4 1TG), a short drive from Cambridge Science Park and the A14. We serve Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, and the whole of the UK.
Are you fully insured?
Yes. Every Hercules Movers job is covered by Goods in Transit and Public Liability insurance. Certificates are available on request before booking.
Do you use your own crews or sub-contract?
We only use our own trained in-house staff — never sub-contracted labour. This is why we can guarantee consistent quality and back it with fixed-price quotes.
How do I contact you?
Call 01223 666 222, WhatsApp 07300 646 656, email contact@herculesmovers.co.uk, or use the quote form on /contact. Response within one business day.
Pricing & Quotes
How much do movers cost in Cambridge?
Typical ranges: 1-bed flat £350–£550, 2-bed £500–£850, 3-bed £700–£1,200, 4-bed £1,000–£1,800. Man and van jobs start from £120 fixed. Piano moves from £220. Office moves are quoted per site survey. All quotes are flat-rate — no hidden fees.
Are your quotes fixed or hourly?
Fixed. We quote a flat rate for the entire job after understanding your inventory and access. Our price accuracy is 99.6% — meaning what we quote is almost always exactly what you pay.
Is the quote free?
Yes. Every quote is free and comes with no obligation. For homes larger than 2-bed we recommend a free pre-move survey (video or in-person) for accuracy.
Do you charge extra for weekends?
Weekend and Bank Holiday moves may carry a small surcharge depending on availability. We'll always be transparent about this in your written quote.
What's included in the price?
Loading, transport, unloading, furniture disassembly and reassembly, floor and doorway protection, and mileage. Optional add-ons: packing labour, materials, storage, parking permits, dismantling of complex items.
Do you offer cheap man and van in Cambridge?
Yes — see /cheap-man-and-van-cambridge. Prices start from £120 fixed for small jobs. Unlike hourly hire, our man and van quotes are still flat-rate so there are no overrun surprises.
Booking & Planning
How far in advance should I book?
For weekday moves book 3–4 weeks ahead. End-of-month, weekend, and Bank Holiday dates fill faster — 6–8 weeks is safer. We do hold same-day and next-day slots subject to crew availability.
Do you offer same-day removals in Cambridge?
Yes, subject to availability. See /same-day-removals-cambridge or call 01223 666 222 for real-time availability.
Can I move on a weekend or Bank Holiday?
Yes. We operate Monday–Saturday and can arrange Sunday/Bank Holiday moves for office relocations and larger jobs.
What happens if my completion date changes?
Completion date changes are common — we build flexibility into the schedule. Notify us as soon as you know and we'll rebook without penalty where possible.
Do I need a parking permit?
In central Cambridge (Mill Road, city centre, some CB1/CB2 residential streets) yes. We can arrange parking suspensions through Cambridge City Council on your behalf — usually 10 working days' notice needed.
House Removals
What size van will you send?
We match van size to inventory: Luton box vans (up to 3-bed), 7.5t lorries (large houses), and 18t lorries for very large or long-distance moves. Multiple vehicles for bigger jobs.
Will you dismantle and reassemble furniture?
Yes, included as standard for beds, wardrobes, tables, and standard flat-pack. Complex items (bespoke wardrobes, gym equipment, pool tables) are quoted as add-ons.
Do you protect floors and walls?
Yes. Every move includes floor runners, doorway protection, and blankets on soft furnishings and fragile items.
Can you handle listed / period properties?
Yes — we regularly move within Cambridge's period and Grade II listed homes, using extra corner and wall protection and slow, deliberate techniques.
Office & Commercial Moves
Do you offer out-of-hours office moves?
Yes — most Cambridge office moves happen evenings and weekends to minimise downtime. We plan phased relocations for larger sites (Cambridge Science Park, Biomedical Campus).
Can you move IT equipment safely?
Yes. Screens, servers, and comms racks are moved with anti-static protection and our IT-safe transport crates. We can coordinate with your IT team for shut-down and reconnection.
Do you offer laboratory / research equipment moves?
Yes. We move equipment for research groups around Cambridge Science Park and the Biomedical Campus, with pre-move surveys and specialist crating.
Piano Moving
Do you move all piano types?
Yes — upright, baby grand, grand, and concert grand pianos. Crews are trained specifically on piano handling and use custom skids, straps, and dollies.
How much does piano moving cost in Cambridge?
Uprights from £220, baby grands from £320, full grands from £450, concert grands quoted individually. Access (stairs, tight corners) affects price.
Is my piano insured during the move?
Yes. Every piano is covered under Goods in Transit insurance. High-value instruments (over £25,000) may require declared-value cover — ask when booking.
Packing Services
Do you offer full packing services?
Yes — full-pack (we pack everything), part-pack (fragile items only), or DIY-pack with materials supplied. See /packing-services.
What packing materials do you supply?
Double-walled cardboard boxes, bubble wrap, tissue paper, packing tape, mattress covers, sofa covers, wardrobe boxes with hanging rails, dish packs, and TV/artwork crates.
How long does professional packing take?
A 3-bed home typically takes 2 packers about 4–6 hours. Full-pack the day before your move is the most common arrangement.
Storage
Do you offer storage in Cambridge?
Yes — secure container storage at our CB4 1TG depot. Short-term (between completion dates) and long-term available.
How much is storage in Cambridge?
From £20/week per 35 sq ft container. Volume discounts for long-term. Free first week for full-service move-in-and-store customers.
How secure is your storage facility?
24-hour monitored premises, sealed containers, individually numbered and photographed on entry. Access by appointment.
